Dead:  /

Domenico "Mimmo" Raccuglia is the boss of Altofonte and the mandamento of San Giuseppe Jato and Partinico. He is the successor of Giovanni Brusca and was one of the men suspected of being the next boss of bosses after the arrest of Bernardo Provenzano in 2006.

Boss of Altofonte
Domenico Raccuglia wos born in Altofonte, a region in Palermo, in 1964. He became a member of the Altofonte cosche during the 1980's. He also became connected with the Vitale family of Partinico, which was closely affiliated with Salvatore Riina. Like his mentor Giovanni Brusca, who was nicknamed "The Pig", Raccuglia was also involved in several killings.

He was sentenced to life in absentia for the murder of pentito Gioacchino La Barbera, who was one of the key witnesses in the murder of Giovanni Falcone in 1992. He is also held responsible for the murder of Giuseppe Di Matteo, the 14 year old son of pentito Santo Di Matteo. The teenager was held captive for about 2 years and was eventually murdered in 1996. The body was then dissolved in acid to remove the evidence. In October 2005 Maurizio Lo Iacono, a rival of the Vitale Family, was shot and killed. The police also believes that Raccuglia was responsible for the hit. Raccuglia, also known as "The Veterinarian" due to his love for animals, was a fugitive ever since 1994 and made it to Italy's 30 most wanted list.

Possible boss of bosses
Somewhere in early 2000 Raccuglia became the mandamento of San Giuseppe Jato and Partinico, meaning he represented the area's on the commission board. By then he was also conscidered as one of the most powerfull Cosa Nostra bosses in Sicily although according to prosecutor Antonio Ingroia he is too young to be seen as a successor of Bernardo Provenzano or Salvatore Lo Piccolo. He also claimed that Raccuglia doesn't have the financial means of becomming boss of bosses. In April 2009 police tried to arrest Raccuglia by raiding a possible hideout, but he was nowhere to be found. However, they did arrest him on November 15 that same year and by this caused another blow for the Mafia. The police was also very pleased with the arrest because Raccuglia was conscidered by many as impossible to catch. Due to the many arrests the Italian police had made lately, Between 2008 and 2009 they have arrested about 3600 mafia members, they force the mafia to constantly re-organize. Raccuglia will most likely be punished to multiple life sentences.
