|New York|  Michael Mancuso

Michael “Mikey Nose” Mancuso is the current boss of the Bonanno family as of 2013.

Michael Mancuso was born in East Harlem where he became involved with the so called East Harlem Purple Gang, which consisted of Lucchese and Bonanno linked heroin dealers. During the 1980's Mancuso got married, but sometime in 1984 he got into an argument with his wife and killed her with his rifle. He left her body on a bench in front of a hospital. After being arrested he pleaded guilty to manslaughter and was sentenced to 10 years in prison.

Acting boss and arrest
Once he got back on the streets he had frequent contact with Vincent Basciano and Anthony Indelicato. After Basciano got elevated into the family, so did Mancuso. In 2004 Basciano, who by then had been arrested for racketeering, named him acting boss of the family. That same year Basciano and Mancuso plotted in murdering rival Randolph Pizzolo. Mancuso had also been implicated in the 1999 murder of Gerlando Sciascia.

In early 2006 Mancuso was arrested for the Pizzolo hit and was sentenced to 15 years in prison, but for a while had also been eligible for the death penalty. Although being jailed, the commission board pointed him out as the new official boss of the thinned out Bonanno family. He is thought of communicating through his nephew Frank Salerno and streetboss John Palazzolo. Shortly after being named boss a dozen members were said to have been made into the family in an attempt to strenghten the organisation once more. Mancuso is set for release in 2019.
