||New York| Dominick - Quiet Dom - Cirillo
Birth: July 4, 1929 - New York
Dominick "Quiet Dom" Cirillo is the current consigliere of the Genovese Family and also served as the acting boss when Vincent "Chin" Gigante was jailed during the late 90's.
Cirillo was born in Italy and moved to the US in 1935 with his family. He started out as a boxer with Tommy Eboli as his manager during the 1940's. With Eboli at his side Cirillo soon went over to criminality and became connected to the Luciano (Genovese) Family, then under Frank Costello. His first conviction came in 1952 when he was imprisoned on drugs charges. In subsequent years he grew close to another future boss and fellow ex-boxer, Vincent "Chin" Gigante.
Acting Genovese Boss
After Gigante was imprisoned in 1997, the leadership of the Genovese family passed to a committee known as the "administration", ostensibly led by Cirillo. In this capacity Cirillo represented the Genovese family in its dealings with other mafia families, though Gigante remained in overall charge of the family until his death in December 2005. Cirillo's low-key style earned him his "Quiet Dom" nickname and helped him avoid the gaze of the authorities for many years. It is unclear to what extent his position as acting boss of the family was affected by a heart attack suffered in 1998. On October 18, 2005, Cirillo and three Genovese captains (Lawrence "Little Larry" Dentico, John "Johnny Sausage" Barbato and Anthony "Tico" Antico) plead guilty on charges of racketeering and racketeering conspiracy. Cirillo was sentenced to 46 months in prison on March 3, 2006.
Cirillo's son, Nicholas, who was not believed to be a made man, disappeared on May 9, 2004. Three weeks later his abandoned car was discovered, but Nicholas Cirillo has never been found. Investigators believe the younger Cirillo was killed after he insulted the son of acting Bonanno boss Vincent "Vinny Gorgeous" Basciano and capo Dominick Cicale. It remains unclear whether this would have been allowed to happen without the explicit permission of Dominick Cirillo.
As of 2007 Cirillo is conscidered to be the consigliere of the Genovese Family. The official boss is Daniel Leo. Cirillo is still in jail and will be released on August 22, 2008.
